Tucson, the sleek crossover from Hyundai, flaunts an athletic European design and improves in every functional area, from its roomier cabin with extra cargo space to its leap in fuel economy and technology for 2010. The all-new 2010 Hyundai Tucson Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) features path breaking engineering including advanced weight saving technology and the eco-efficient Theta II 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine delivering up to 31 mpg on the highway. The Tucson is available in two well-equipped FWD, AWD GLS and Limited models.
Power and performance
Hyundai has engineered the Tucson to be more fuel efficient than its predecessor and main competitors. A 176 hp all-aluminum, 16-valve Theta II 2.4-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine delivers an impressive estimated 23 mpg city/31 mpg highway fuel economy rating with the available six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC and front wheel drive. With All-Wheel Drive (AWD), the Tucson yields an estimated 21 mpg city/28 mpg highway.
Body and styling
The 2010 Hyundai Tucson is 3.3 inches longer and one inch wider than its predecessor, yet 61 pounds lighter. Hyundai's first panoramic sunroof, touch-screen navigation and a Bluetooth hands-free phone system are among its key features. A new Hyundai family hexagonal chrome front grille, available Euroflange 18-inch alloy wheels, high-mounted taillights; multi-surfaced glass and a sculpted bumper mark the exterior.
Inside, the five-seat Tucson features an Autonet AM/FM/Satellite radio/CD/MP3 audio system with 6 speakers (160-watt), iPod/USB and MP3 auxiliary input jacks, Bluetooth hands-free phone system with voice recognition, cruise control, power windows, cloth seating surfaces, available leatherette bolster/cloth insert seats and 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback with adjustable head restraint are among the standard equipment. The Tucson offers a cargo volume of 25.7 cubic feet with rear seats up.
The Premium Package on the Limited includes panoramic sunroof, navigation system with 6.5-in screen, rearview camera and premium audio with external amp and subwoofer.
The Popular Entertainment Package on the GLS includes telescopic steering wheel, 17-in alloy wheels, driver auto up/down power window, leatherette bolster/cloth insert seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel & shift knob, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, illuminated vanity mirrors and glove box, steering wheel audio and cruise controls, soft touch interior paint, body color exterior door handles, body color heated mirrors, side garnish, privacy glass and roof rack side rails.
The Navigation Package on the GLS requires Popular Equipment Package and includes navigation system with 6.5-in screen, rearview camera, premium audio with external amp/subwoofer and automatic headlights.
